U.N. Inspectors Gauge Risks at Nuclear Plant as Ukraine and Russia Trade Accusations

As a team of international monitors assessed conditions at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in the middle of a raging war zone on Friday, Ukraine accused Russia of offering only a “staged” visit and called on the U.N. nuclear watchdog to condemn its control of the plant.

Argentina’s Vice President Unharmed After Assassination Attempt

An assassination attempt on Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner of Argentina failed Thursday night as a man pointed a pistol at her head and tried to pull the trigger, but the gun did not go off, according to video footage and a statement from Argentina’s president.
