Hilary Matfess is a doctoral student in political science at Yale University whose research focuses on insurgencies and gender dynamics in sub-Saharan Africa. She is a research analyst at the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project, or ACLED. Her work has been featured in the African Studies Review, Foreign Affairs, Newsweek and The Washington Post, among many others. “Women and the War on Boko Haram” is her first book.
