Hassan Ould Moctar is a writer and researcher interested in migration, borders and development, with a regional focus on Mauritania, the West African Sahel and the Sahara. He holds a doctoral degree from the Department of Development Studies in SOAS University of London and has held postdoctoral fellowships at SOAS and the London School of Economics. His book, “After Externalization: Migration, Race, and Labour in Mauritania,” is forthcoming from Bloomsbury Publishers.
