The war in Afghanistan is paying particular attention to Afghan
farmers. The Obama administration has made a point to focus on
increasing the quality of life for farmers and arming them with the
tools they need to trade in their opium business for other lucrative
crops such as saffron. Experts say that if the initiative is
successful, it will not only help the Afghan export business, but will
also help to gain the trust of locals in rural areas.
