Challenges and Opportunities for the Obama Administration in Central Asia
Dr. Stephen J. Blank | Strategic Studies Institute | 2009-06-01
The strategy for the Afghanistan war is strongly linked to internal issues in Pakistan, as well as stability in the region of Central Asia. This monograph highlights the necessity of combining our war strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan with a nonmilitary approach to Central Asia in order to create a more stable region. Dr. Stephen Blank argues that a successful strategy involves diplomatically engaging Central Asia through economic means, and by so doing, providing a secure buffer zone to Afghanistan.
