Model Protocol Additional to the Agreements between States and the International Atomic Energy Agency for the Application of Safeguards
International Atomic Energy Agency | 1997-09-01
This document is a model Additional Protocol designed for states having a safeguards agreement with the Agency, in order to strengthen the effectiveness and improve the efficiency of the safeguards system as a contribution to global nuclear nonproliferation objectives. This voluntary supplement to the standard comprehensive safeguards agreement obliges governments to declare additional information about their nuclear activities, and gives IAEA inspectors greater access and verification rights at sites where undeclared activities may occur.
