UK Defense and Security Review 2010
UK Government | 2010-10-01
"Securing Britain in an Age of Uncertainty: The Strategic Defence and Security Review," was delivered by the office of the prime minister to Parliament in October 2010, and outlines the plan of the coalition government of Prime Minister David Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to make severe cuts to Britain's defense capabilities.
"The difficult legacy we have inherited has necessitated tough decisions to get our economy back on track," Cameron and Clegg write in the forward to the review. "Our national security depends on our economic security and vice versa. So bringing the defence budget back to balance is a vital part of how we tackle the deficit and protect this country’s national security."
The report was referenced in the Nov. 3 WPR column, "The British Military's Genetic Mutation."
